CHANGES AT PEACE HOUSE

Shelley JacobsonWe are excited to announce that Shelley Jacobson has joined Peace House Africa as the new Executive Director.  Shelley is the former CEO of the Girl Scout Council of Greater Minneapolis which served over 19,000 girls in an eight county west metro area. Shelley recently commented, "I look forward to visiting our students at PHS later this month. It will give me a chance to see the mission and vision of Peace House Africa in action - ah, what a great adventure to experience. It is my goal that we will look back next year and be amazed at all the wonderful things we have accomplished!" Doug Nethercut, our Executive Director during the past 5 years, has left to take his lifelong dream job as director of the YMCA Camp Menogyn in northern Minnesota.  Doug did a terrific job as director of Peace House Africa and we wish him the best on his new adventure.

Next, we are happy to announce that Jeff Hollister has become the new acting director of Peace House Secondary School in Arusha.  Jeff is from Minneapolis and has a strong background in finance and management.  He will be an excellent working partner with our head of education Theopista Seuya.

You may have read the article in a recent Minneapolis Star Tribune business section regarding the launchDana House of Scott Augustine's health technology products.  This ambitious venture requires Scott's full attention and he has stepped down from the Peace House Africa Board after 8 years of service to focus on growing his business.  His role as Chairman of the Board will be filled by current Board member Dana House.  Dana is a CPA, a 5 year member of the Board, and has been very active in many Peace House activities including the 100 Holes for Hope golf events.

After 5 years of working hard to help develop and grow Peace House Africa, Paula McQueen (Dyrhaug), will be leaving her role as Director of Development to launch a new consulting practice and will continue to support Peace House on a volunteer basis.  We thank Paula for her years of dedication to Peace House Africa’s mission. We are beginning an immediate search for her successor.

Finally, we are very pleased to announce the addition of Dan Dryer, an executive in the leasing and finance business in the Twin Cities, to the Peace House Africa Board.  Dan and his wife, Janet, CEO of Help/Systems in Minneapolis, have been ardent supporters of Peace House in the past.   Dan serves on a number of other Boards and we are very fortunate to have his service on our Board.

Though we have many changes happening at Peace House, our mission stays the same! Help us give hope through education. Sponsor a student today!
