When the drum beat changes, so must the dance - African proverb

The students of PHS returned to campus for the 2012 school year on January 14. Peace House Africa is pleased that they are back in class and continuing their education, but the new school year brings with it some unwelcome changes at PHS. Please click on “the school” for the full report and learn what Peace House Africa is doing to ensure orphans and vulnerable children have hope for an education.

Since 2001, over 800 students have benefited from Peace House Africa's programs. They all share one remarkable quality in common: resilience. These children, orphaned and otherwise vulnerable, have suffered profound tragedies in their young lives. Most have lost at least one parent, often both. Some had been turned away by guardians and lived on the streets. Others had been exploited or abused. They all proved that with compassion and support, they could overcome the trauma of their pasts and accomplish excellence. Their resilience would not allow them to give up, even when a brighter future appeared impossible. Change is often the only constant in life; these students can teach us all something about adapting, persevering and thriving through changes.

In September of 2011, Peace House Africa celebrated its first graduating class from O-level. The expansion project for the upper classes (A-level) at PHS was nearly complete when the school was seized, but the NCD will not open A-level for 2012. The following graduates will learn their test results before March and successful candidates will continue to A-level at quality government schools with full scholarships from Peace House Africa. Thanks to your support, they can now fulfill their highest potential:
